Important Update from Your SJCAA Board of Trustees
July 2011
Kathleen Hollenbeck Named SJC Alumnae Liaison
In May, your St. Joseph College Alumnae Association (SJCAA) board announced the upcoming retirement of Judy Dwyer Brennan ’64, the association’s Executive Administrator. We are pleased to advise you that we have found a very capable replacement.
Kathleen Hollenbeck assumed the duties of SJC Alumnae Liaison on July 1, 2011.
A graduate of Georgetown University, Kathleen has served for the past five years as an administrative assistant in the Office of Alumni Relations at Mount St. Mary’s University. Kathleen has first-hand knowledge of managing alumnae groups and supporting their activities. Prior to joining the Mount, she was the bookkeeper for her husband’s business. Kathleen has also served for many years as a volunteer in her community. She has three adult daughters and a young grandson.
SJCAA Office Relocates to MSM Campus
Along with a new Alumnae Liaison, the SJC Alumnae Office also has a new home. As we previously informed you, Mount St. Mary’s University offered us space, as well as administrative/technical support services in offices located in Bradley Hall on the Mount’s campus. We recently moved our office from the former St. Joseph’s Provincial House to the Mount campus.
(With the consolidation of four U.S. provinces of the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, and the move of Sister administrators there, several wings of the Emmitsburg building will be retrofitted to accommodate housing for seniors from the Emmitsburg area. A number of retired, elderly or infirm Daughters still reside in several wings of the structure.)

A Note About Our Changes
Our discussions with the Mount began last year as we started to implement our Strategic Plan. A Management Service Agreement with the Mount was finalized in May, and outlines a collaborative relationship between Mount St. Mary’s University and St. Joseph College Alumnae Association. Most important, this agreement ensures the viability of our alumnae association and its activities into the next decades.
The SJCAA Board is committed to the goals outlined in the Association’s Strategic Plan. To realize these objectives, we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the Mount, but are focused on the future of the SJCAA and how to protect our legacy.
As noted in the Board’s May correspondence to all paid members:
“We are not joining with or merging into Mount St. Mary’s Alumni Association. We remain and will continue to remain an independent association for the Alumnae of St. Joseph College. “
We look forward to celebrating our “new beginnings,” as well as our heritage with each of you at the 2012 Reunion, March 29 – April 1, 2012 at the Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg, PA. We are grateful for your continued support. If you have comments or questions, please get in touch.
Warm regards,
The SJCAA Board of Trustees
