We Remember....Mary Ann Seghers McGunagle Tenos
Class of '42

Mary Ann Seghers McGunagle Tenos, 87, of Pittsburgh, died Nov. 24, 2007. She was born March 10, 1920 in Dallas, the eldest child of Charles and Annie Regan Seghers. Mary Ann grew up in Milwaukee and Pittsburgh with her siblings Charles (Buddy), Roberta (Bobbie) and Richard Seghers. She attended both SJC (Class of 1942) and Duquesne University, where she studied business administration. She “was a proud member of the St. Joseph College Alumnae Association and often spoke fondly of her years at SJC,” said her daughter, Nancy McGunagle Bies.

An award-winning artist and photographer, Mary Ann also studied at the Pittsburgh Art Institute. While at Duquesne, she met George F. McGunagle Jr., and they married in 1941. He died in 1970. Mary Ann was president of G-M Industries in Pittsburgh from 1970 until she retired in 1986. In 1976, she married John E. Tenos of Pittsburgh. They enjoyed sailing and traveling together until his death in 1995.

In addition to Nancy, Mary Ann is survived by another daughter, Joanne Purkis of Houston, a son, George F. (Pat) McGunagle of Rye, NY, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
