In Memoriam

We Remember.... Dorothy Drummond Wiberley
Class of '42

Marie Dorothy "Dot" Wiberley, 90, of Warrington, PA, formerly of Willowdale, Ontario, Canada; East Orange, NJ, and Utica, NY, died July 4, 2008, at her residence. Born Sept. 26, 1917, in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of Robert James and Ellen Tobin Drummond. Dot graduated from SJC in 1942. She taught home economics and biology at Brookfield Regional High School, Brookfield, N.Y., and also worked at Foster's Toy Store, Doylestown, PA. She spent the majority of her life raising her children. Three of her daughters are SJC alumnae.

Dot belonged to the Catholic Women's League, Christian Family Movement, and women's bridge club at her parish in Ontario, Canada; and the Ladies of Mount Carmel Parish, Doylestown, PA, where she was named Woman of the Year 1995 for her volunteerism. Her love of travel took her throughout the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Some of her happiest times were spent vacationing with family. Her favorite pastimes were shopping and “doing lunch.”

She is survived by four daughters, Ellen Ruth Wiberley (SJC ’69) of Warrington, Mary Ann Wiberley Shattuck (SJC ’70) of Walnut Creek, CA, Christine Wiberley Goglia (SJC ’73) of Reisterstown, MD, and Peggy Wiberley Ledesma of South Orange, NJ; two sons, Charles C. Wiberley of New Britain, PA and John A. Wiberley of Chalfont, PA; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Wiberley, daughters Patty Wiberley Timberlake and Theresa Wiberley; and her brother Robert J. Drummond. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, or Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 235 E State St, Doylestown, PA 18901.
