Patricia McCaffrey O’Connor
Class of '47
Patricia Ann McCaffrey O’Connor, 81, a member of the Class of 1947, died April 19, 2008 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, Frederick, MD, after a long illness. Born in Frederick Dec. 13, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and M. Elizabeth McCaffrey.
Pat graduated from SJC in 1947, and then worked as a microbiologist at Fort Detrick. She married Richard O’Connor in 1956. Once their children were in school, Pat taught at St. John’s Literary Institution at Prospect Hall. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Frederick, and was a past grand regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a volunteer with the Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary. Pat was interested in cooking and bridge, often for the opportunity for her to provide hospitality and to maintain contact with her extended family and close friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Ann Von Hagel (Ed) of Arlington, VA; sons John O’Connor (Martha) of Webster, NY; Stephen O’Connor (Melissa) of Frederick; Richard O’Connor of West Orange, NJ; and Michael O’Connor (Tammy) of Frederick; four grandchildren; sisters Betty McCaffrey if Frederick and Jane O’Leary of Charlottesville, VA; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial Contributions may be made to the building funds of St. John Regional School, 8414 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, St. John Prep, 889 Butterfly Lane, Frederick, or Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary, 1900 Rosemont Ave, Frederick, MD 21701.| MEDITATIONS |
